The biggest change Sony Ericsson Xperia pro on the camera front through the older X10 model is this handset now permits you to shoot video in high definition. Unfortunately this doesn't stretch all the way up to Full HD, topping out in 1, 280x720 pixels, which is in essence 720p or normal HD.
You're given a good amount of control over the camera in online video mode. You can switch the concentration mode between face detection, single vehicle focus or set focus to infinity, by way of example. A stabiliser aims to smooth out and about camera shakes, and there are many scene modes for sport, landscapes and shooting in the evening.
Again, though, the resulting video is often a letdown. In 720p mode video equates looking very soft and almost fuzzy. In fact, videos just don't contain the sharpness or detail we'd expect coming from a 720p camera and instead almost look that they've been upscaled from a decrease resolution. Colours are also a bit washed-out and lack impact, which does lend your movies a flat along with lifeless look. All in all, it can be quite disappointing.
